The minim issued by Epaticcus, ruler of the Atrebates c.AD20-40, with the reverse depicting a standing dog facing right from under a tree to its left, and the obverse depicting a helmeted bust facing right, was designed in imitation of a Roman republican denarius issued by Sex(tus) Pom(peius?) c.137BC with a reverse depicting a she-wolf under a tree feeding the twins Romulus and Remus and an obverse depicting a helmeted bust of Roma. This reverse-type issued by Epaticcus was the first of a small series of similar reverse- or obverse- types.
