Capsule: The first breeding data for this population of Grey Wagtails Motacilla cinerea at the southern edge of their breeding range in North Africa show smaller clutches and the production of fewer young compared with populations in the core of the breeding range in Europe. Overall, the breeding success at hatching was 4.33 chicks per nest. Over 62% of broods were successful and predation accounted for most of the losses. Grey Wagtails used up to 17 different plant species for nest construction, although the number of different plant species varied from 10 to 14. © 2011 British Trust for Ornithology.
