Any consideration of The Museum of Art
for the XXI Century or ‘MAXXI’ by Zaha Hadid in itself poses many questions;
countless articles have been penned regarding the virtuoso pairing of Zaha
Hadid as Architect and Patrick Schumacher as part writer, part code maker.
Indeed the idea of architectural re-coding and encrytpion is a pursuit much
favoured by this duo. An understanding of this, is sometimes necessary in order
to engage at any level with the fully developed architecture that the practice
now pursues. Significantly, this may also be the reason why Hadid’s practice
yet to succeed in landing Architecture’s biggest Prize, the Stirling Prize in
two years running.
