In this short presentation Jools Gilson elaborated connections between grammatical forms / tropes and somatics. Following threads raised during a Somatics and Performance Workshop held in August in Cork, she suggests compelling ways in which structures of language haunt embodiment as well as writing. The semicolon is a hesitancy followed by elaboration; something we all recognise from movement practices. The main focus of the presentation is on the metonym, which she proposes as a generative form that allows space for both language and the experience of the body.
