In this paper, I examine the case of Donna
Leon’s Guido Brunetti series (1992-). Within the limits of a short presentation I will analyse
aspects of the cultural translation practised by the American Leon, a long-time
resident of Venice, but also the
effects of the series’ transfer to German television (Commissario Brunetti, ARD/Das Erste (2000-2002: 4 episodes) 2003
(with Uwe Kockisch in lead role)-2013 15 episodes).
