Raven, Eagle, Snake, Coins, Celtic, British, Iron Age, Atrebates, Verica, Epaticcus
The coinage of Epaticcus sometimes depicts a more aggressive interpretation of the same basic reverse theme as appears on the coinage of Verica, an eagle clasping a snake rather than an eagle with empty talons, a dog crouched as if to spring rather than curled in sleep, in such a way as to suggest that this was deliberate, that he or his moneyers were deliberately trying to depict him as a more warlike or aggressive leader than Verica.
