This MPhil thesis by Independent Research examines Geoffrey Keating's life, background and his Foras Feasa ar Éirinn in relation to manuscripts, printed editions, printed translations, and the electronic edition (online at CELT) I prepared in the course of my research.
This thesis studies seventeenth-century author Geoffrey Keating (Seathrún Céitinn), and his Foras Feasa ar Éirinn (History of Ireland), in manuscript, print, and electronic edition. Combining Irish History and Philology with Humanities Computing methodologies, it applies principles of Irish history and philology to a textual source in the framework of Digital Humanities at the Corpus of Electronic Texts (CELT), based on Text Encoding Initiative (TEI) guidelines.
