This study evaluated the efficiency of a photobioreactor that has been developed, using commercial saline solution sterile plastic bags. Nannochloropsis oculata (Eustigmatophyceae) growth performance on batch cultivation was similar between treatments with a specific growth rate (max) of 0.12 h-1 and 0,13 h-1 for MCT (marine water ) and SST (saline solution + commercial marine salt) respectively. The cell production achieved for MCT was 5.47107 mL−1 cells after 84h and for SST was 3.61107 mL−1 . The production of microalgal pigments under conditions of culture medium starvation assay showed a decline in the level of Astaxanthin, zeaxanthin and Lycopene content. These results encourages future research effort to optimize the mass transfer and design of the photobioreactor proposed.
