Abstract

Little is known whether typical children’s attitudes towards their peers with cleft palate are affected by reduced speech intelligibility. This study found that the more unintelligible the speech, the lower the children rated a speaker’s qualities across different personal attributes. Children’s ratings did not differ with age.
