An algorithm for structural shape optimisation (SSO) is presented which utilises the BEM for the calculation of geometric sensitivities. These are then used to get the structural response sensitivities e.g. stress and displacement, which are used at the optimisation stage, using the semianalytical method of sensitivity analysis. The structural analysis is carried out using the FEM and Sequential Linear Programming (SLP) is the optimisation method utilised. Selected examples demonstrate the use of the algorithm.
