In this article, I hope to explore time, and the symbol of the clock as a technology of time, as represented in both Virginia Woolf’s Orlando: A Biography and Sally Potter’s film adaptation, delineating the significance of such in relation to the treatment of time in both works. I will argue that Woolf and Potter both problematize the notion of time through their use of technology and external memory media.
