This paper outlines some
developments in a village called Newton in the UK in Nottinghamshire over 2002-2004 (Newton is a hamlet approx. 10 miles south-east of the city
of Nottingham in the UK¿s
East Midlands). What this paper also hopes to
do is explore the ways in which thinking about the mobility of different groups of people who were, currently are and
(as shall become clear) were intended
to be in Newton can lend us some insights into the kind of place Newton itself
is, and the ways in which the social and spatial order in Western societies can
be organized.
