A Viking decorated lead weight was recovered during the excavation of an early medieval rectilinear enclosure near Naas, Co. Kildare, in 2018. The object is characteristically Viking, yet it was found on a site near an Irish royal centre.This report presents the find and notes its potential significance for understanding the site. As it is one of the few decorated lead weights to be recovered during an archaeological excavation, the object is also examined within its wider national and international context.
