Bapak Rajeg and his ensemble (1969 recording) and Bapak Sumandhi and his ensemble (2001 recording).
This CD features two sets of recordings: one that was recorded in 1969 by the previous generation of members of this ensemble and one that I recorded of the present-day ensemble in 2001. Upon hearing the old recordings, I was struck by the level and amount of change that had taken place musically between only two generations. I digitally re-mastered the older recordings and set them alongside a similar set of pieces by the current ensemble. The CD includes extensive liner notes.
