In 2004 I recorded a CD in Beirut with the Mt Lebanon Choir (see CDs, below). This CD featured an entire liturgy set in English in traditional Byzantine style by composer and conductor Joseph Yazbek, director of the Mt Lebanon Choir. I was one of 6 chanters on the recording and also edited and typeset the score, written in traditional Byzantine neumes. The recording and accompanying score wer extremely popular across in diasporic Greek Orthodox communities across the United States. However, not many would-be performers could read the traditional neumes, so, in response to many requests, I wrote this book, which features the entire score transcribed to staff notation with the original neumes set above each line.
