The effect of age of listeners and method of assessment on measure of speech intelligibility

This study investigated the effect of (1) age of listeners (children of 8 and 11 years, and adults) and (2) method (orthographic transcription versus verbal repetition) on the measurement of speech intelligibility scores for children with repaired cleft palate. Results showed that the scores measured by the younger children were lower; and the difference between the two methods was minimal.
