Series of six half-hour radio
programmes produced for the Northside Folklore Project's City of Culture
project (for Cork's tenure as European Capital of Culture), devised, co-ordinated and produced by Cliona O'Carroll. The programmes are available as a box
set, and were broadcast on Cork Campus Radio, Cork Hospital Radio and numerous
community radio stations around the country. The programmes explore everyday
life in Cork city from the perspective of interviewees who grew up in the city,
and those from elsewhere who have made Cork their home. They investigate migrant experiences,
conceptions of locality and belonging, and the interactions with the physical
landscape of the city and with cultural forms such as accents and local phrases
that contribute to the creation of meaning in everyday life.
