This article is a discussion of the linkages between translation, interpretation and culture in general. It  highlights and compares a French case and an Irish case where justice draws upon 'culture' to reach its conclusions and make judgements about people and their behaviour. Myles Joyce was hung for a crime he did not commit but he din't understand the language, or the culture he was condemned in. Are there any ways to place checks and balances in research for bias.
